Jeremiah Turner is a Sound Designer from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and currently residing in Southern California. Some of his notable works in theatre include, The Hangar Theatre’s “Cabaret”, The Hangar Theatre’s “Billy Elliot: The Musical”, Theatre Baton Rouge's "Shrek The Musical", UCI Drama's "The Prom", and UCI Drama's "9 to 5". Jeremiah began his career in Baton Rouge, where he attended Louisiana State University. After receiving his BA , Jeremiah would return to LSU and serve as their sound engineer, developing productions with the school of theatre, and their professional affiliate Swine Palace. In 2021, Jeremiah was honored with the opportunity of obtaining a design fellowship with The Hangar Theatre in Ithaca, NY. Notable works from his fellowship are “Stoo’s Famous Martian American Gumbo” and “Lost Girl”. In 2022, after serving as the Sound Engineer for LSU, and freelancing in the Baton Rouge area, Jeremiah moved to Irvine, California, to attend the University of California, Irvine’s MFA sound design program. Jeremiah also serves as an educator, teaching seminars at Louisiana State University, University of California, Irvine, and at the The United States Institute for Theatre Technology conference. He believes it is important to give back to his community through the power of education, and to prepare the future designers of tomorrow. Jeremiah sound designs for podcasting as well. Notable works include, Dreams & Screams’ “The Somnilyte Sessions” and KB Saine’s “Black Theatre History Podcast". When not designing, Jeremiah is an avid baker, making sweet treats from his home state of Louisiana.
